Nutraceutical
Hypericin
With sedative, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and healing properties.
Hypericin inhibits the monoamine oxidase enzyme (MAO), responsible for the deactivation of various mediators of the central nervous system, has an effect on GABA receptors and induces a stop in the reuptake of serotonin which, almost certainly, is the fundamental antidepressant device of the Hypericum and is also the neurotransmitter that regulates mood, with a consequent increase in outcomes related to the amount of serotonin usable.
It also inhibits the enzyme catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT), which has the same effect.
Hypericin increases the nocturnal secretion of melatonin; it also contains some tannins with an anti-diarrhotic effect and some flavonoids with a diuretic effect.
