Potassium

Controls neuromuscular excitability, heart rhythm, osmotic pressure and water retention.
Potassium is a macroelement, i.e. one of the minerals present in the body in high quantities. Potassium is found in all foods, but fresh, slightly processed vegetables are particularly rich in it. Potassium is found in many foods such as dried beans and peas, asparagus, potatoes, apricots, bananas, cauliflowers, and spinach.
Potassium regulates the water content of cells and controls their osmotic pressure. It plays a fundamental role in the synthesis of proteins and the conversion of sugars into glycogen. It activates numerous enzymes connected with energy metabolism and is involved in the processes of transmission of the nerve impulse, and in the control of muscle contraction and blood pressure
