Hypericin

With sedative, antidepressant and anti-inflammatory properties

With sedative, antidepressant, anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and healing properties.

Hypericin inhibits the monoamine oxidase enzyme (MAO), responsible for the deactivation of various mediators of the central nervous system, has an effect on GABA receptors and induces a stop in the reuptake of serotonin which, almost certainly, is the fundamental antidepressant device of the Hypericum and is also the neurotransmitter that regulates mood, with a consequent increase in outcomes related to the amount of serotonin usable.

It also inhibits the enzyme catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT), which has the same effect.

Hypericin increases the nocturnal secretion of melatonin; it also contains some tannins with an anti-diarrhotic effect and some flavonoids with a diuretic effect.

In recent years, a great deal of research has been carried out into the possible usefulness of hypericum and hyperacin,
in the medical field.
Below are some of the latest fields in which research has been carried out:

-POSSIBLE ANTI-TUMOUR ACTION:
The team of researchers led by Adriana Albini, Head of Oncological Research at IRCCS MultiMedica (Institute of Neurological Sciences), recently discovered that hyperforin has anti-angiogenic properties, i.e. it fights the cells that form the blood vessels of tumors.

The mechanism passes through the inhibition of the NFkB molecule, a trigger of the inflammation and inflammatory angiogenesis circuits.
It also blocks endothelial migration in response to inflammatory cytokines.
