Zeaxanthin

To prevent macular degeneration

Zeaxanthins are carotenoids which act as antioxidants that must be present in the diet, otherwise the body is not able to synthesise them. They are found predominantly in green leafy vegetables (broccoli, spinach, cabbage and Brussels sprouts). These pigments are mainly distributed in the eye tissues, settling in the retina, in particular at the macula level, where they have an important defensive action.

Studies demonstrate the ability of these carotenoids to increase contrast sensitivity and promote visual function by decreasing photophobia and glare.
