Hypericum

Antidepressant and antiviral

  • Flavonoids (iperoside, rutin)
  • Diantrachinones (hypericin)

Hypericum can be found in specific cosmetics for the treatment of dry and irritated skin by the sun,
In folk medicine, hypericum was known as "St. John's oil" as it could exert a protective power against ghosts and other evil manifestations.
In fact, the plant can also grow in difficult environments and often is found on old statues.
Thanks to its sedative and antidepressant properties, hypericum is used in the treatment of non-endogenous depressive states, gastritis and gastric ulcer.
