Catechins

With antioxidant, neuroprotective properties, they accelerate the metabolism of fats and sugars
Catechins are substances that belong to the flavanol group, which are found in many woody plants and responsible for the distinctive taste of their products (for example tea) and some of their medicinal properties.
They possess important antioxidant properties, meaning that they protect cells from damage caused by free radicals. Studies have also highlighted the ability of catechins to make the walls of blood vessels more elastic, with a beneficial effect on blood pressure. Several studies also attribute immunostimulant, neuroprotective (that is, able to prevent and treat neurodegenerative diseases) and hepatoprotective properties to catechins. Catechins may also be able to accelerate the metabolism of fats and sugars, facilitating weight loss. Finally, catechins, in addition to their own direct antioxidant and anti-inflammatory action, may also enhance other antioxidant systems (e.g. those involving Vitamin E).
